Assessment
From September 2014 the Government announced that schools must assess without using levels. This was to make it easier for parents to understand assessment and to tie in with the new curriculum which emphasizes the need for children to develop a deeper understanding of their learning rather and master the skills that they have been taught rather than merely racing through the curriculum without gaining a secure understanding of what they have learnt.
Schools are free to assess the skills in each subject, at each stage of learning, in whatever manner they feel is appropriate.
At Sir John Offley we understand the necessity to ensure that children are ‘secondary ready’ by being equipped with the essential knowledge, skills and understanding required for their next stage of learning when they leave our school.
